Once a year, BIO and MOBIO host the Legislative Day Fly-In, inviting biotechnology executives from across the country to come to Washington D.C. for a day and a half of legislative briefings and advocacy.

The 2018 Fly-In will occur April 17-18, 2018, and we are looking forward to another great day of engaging with Members of Congress and their senior staff on the most important legislative issues facing the biotechnology industry. BIO will schedule all congressional meetings and provide attendees with a robust legislative briefing prior to their visits on Capitol Hill. Missouri attendees meet in small groups with the congressional Members and senior staff of the Missouri's congressional delegation. Each group will be accompanied by a BIO staff representative to all visits.

There is no registration fee payable to BIO or MOBIO for executives attending the Legislative Day Fly In.

It is always our goal to make the BIO Fly-in as easy as possible for our visiting attendees; please do not hesitate to contact us with questions.

Priority national topics we discussed last year included supporting increases to the $32 billion NIH appropriations level, a go slow approach to patent reform, asking legislators to support a science based approach to federal food labeling, reimbursements for biopharma companies in the Part D systems, and asking for retention of the policy that provides for average selling price plus 6% for physician’s who provide biologics access.

The BIO Fly-In also affords us an important opportunity to share positive updates about our state and regional successes in the life sciences.

I ask our members to consider prioritizing this activity within your schedule, as this really is a meaningful opportunity to impart a positive impression in a condensed time effort.  We owe it to ourselves to carry our state message as strong as possible each year.
